Security?

Yesterday there was a couple on the news with a video of their six year old daughter being "patted" down by security at an airport.  They had posted it to You Tube.  The interviewer handled to questioning very well, not taking sides in the story.  In fact she asked why they had posted it on You Tube and their answer was very vague.

I understand that they would be upset that a child would be chosen for such a random security check, but if the airports don't follow procedure, someone could take advantage of children in a much worse way.

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.  I don't understand much of people's need for power or "position" in the world, but we have to deal with it and address it every day.  It's hard to imagine that someone would use a child to smuggle something dangerous onto a plane, but in some countries, they send woman and children into dangerous situations, in order to cause as much harm and damage to others as possible.

In the video, the little girl appeared a little confused but not crying and her mother was standing right there.  What her parents should have been doing was assuring their daughter that it was alright.  Much like the uncertainty of a child during a doctor's visit.  It's necessary and we explain and deal with it the best we can.  Instead the parents explained to the interviewer that they were confrontational with the officers.  The mother eluded that the "non verbal" communication she received from the officers was threatening.  I'm not sure what that meant.  By the way, the officer doing the patting was a woman and she was appeared very professional.

Security is a way of life.  If we make "exceptions" it leaves the door open for possible threats to come to fruition.   It's so sad, but true.  The world is not always perfect and dandy, no matter what your age anymore.

Squeezing the positive of every day.
Peace and love.  Until tomorrow...
